Namaskaram

Hello, Hi, Namaste,Vanakkam, Namaskaram, Bonjour,Welcome to the ' Thoughts of an Achayan ' . ,The term 'Achayan' is used for Syrian Christian men who basically have their origin in Kerala , the beautiful state located in the extreme south of India, also known as 'God's own country' . Achayans consists of two types , the Knanaya Christians who claim to have migrated to India directly from the Middle East under the leadership of a merchant named 'Thomas of Kana' ( 72 families accompanied him in the journey which took place around 220 AD) , the other group of Achayans are also Syrian Christans but were converted to Christianity by St.Thomas himself ( one of the 12 apostles from the Bible). Achayans are found all over the world and they set up Churches wherever they go and invariably most Churches are named St.Thomas or St.Mary's, the priests are called 'Achans' and most have long beards and wear a small cylindrical caps, the bishops are called 'Thirumeni's' , who also have long beards and are dressed in robes made of the finest and shiniest of material , they look very similar to the Greek and Russian Orthodox bishops.Anyhow we are one happy family except for the occassional Church politics and all the stuff that comes with that.Oh, by the way, Im an Achayan too (obviously) , living in the Midwest of the U.S.A.Im not sure whether anyone will ever stumble upon this blog, but if you do, WELCOME!!
